Cooking With Cannabis

Edibles are a wildly popular way to enjoy cannabis. They are flavorful, perfect for on-the-go, and a different type of high than flower or vaping. Edibles come in all types: chocolates, popcorn, gummies, and even soda. Cannabis Edibles allow you to have your cannabis and eat it too.

Green Sativa in Federal Heights, Colorado, is an amazing medical and recreational dispensary with plenty of high-quality cannabis products. Green Sativa is one of Colorado’s most trusted dispensaries because of our service and options available, edibles included. We know how much of a sweet tooth or an edge for the savory you have, so that’s why edibles are a great way to fire up your appetite and your energy.

Cooking With Cannabis: Tips to Help Create Delicious Edibles

Many people also love baking their edibles at home if they have time. Making them at home lets someone try different recipes and play with cannabis amounts. Plus, who doesn’t like homemade treats?

Here are ways you can make your favorite edibles using cannabis from Green Sativa. We recommend using something culinary in name, like an eighth of our Memberberry or Blueberry Headband. We have the finest cannabis for you to make edibles with.

Decarboxylating Your Cannabis

Cannabis contains cannabinoids which are compounds that combine through the heat to cause psychotropic or mellowing effects. Terpenes are also important for the personality of the plant. Heat is how THC-A is activated to become THC. To make proper cannabis extract for edibles, you need to decarboxylate the flower. Decarboxylating is a method used to preserve many of the cannabinoids present in cannabis.

To decarboxylate your flower, put it in the oven for 30 minutes at 245 degrees. The drier the flower is, the quicker it will finish. Once you mix the ground flower with oil or butter after heating, place it over low heat between 160-200 degrees for three hours. You can choose not to decarboxylate, but the process takes longer. Then strain the oil or butter into a container and store it in the refrigerator for up to three months. You can make a whole variety of edibles with it now. People tend to use cannabutter for muffins, brownies, or cookies. Cannabis oil can be used to infuse savory dishes like macaroni and cheese, pasta, or other gourmet dishes.

Crispy Rice Chocolate Bars

⅛ ounce Green Sativa flower
½ cup butter
4 cups chocolate
2 cups crispy rice
¼ cup of cannabutter

Melt the chocolate, add to the mix of crispy rice and cannabutter. Line a baking sheet and set to the side. Pour the mix and fold into itself. Spread evenly on the sheet and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.

Cannabutter Brownies

Brownies are easy to make. Take any brownie mix, and instead of vegetable oil or the regular oil, substitute for cannabutter. Then heat the oven and bake accordingly. They will become delicious cannabis brownies meant to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Cannabis Oil

Use cannabis oil that you made to cook your vegetables in. Infuse pasta or a pizza with cannabis oil and give your favorite dishes a boost of THC.
