Strain Spotlight: Blueberry Headband

Updated October 2022

After reading our strain spotlight guide to Blueberry Headband, you’ll learn:

    • The genetic heritage of the strain and how those inherited characteristics create a favorite strain for cannabis connoisseurs
    • How the strain’s appearance, aroma, and taste all enhance the consumption experience

While some strains offer names that seem more like marketing buzz than an actual description of the plant’s appearance or consumption experience, Blueberry Headband offers a label that tells you exactly what you’re getting: blueberry aroma and taste and a feeling like wearing a comfortable headband. However, that’s not all the Blueberry Headband strain offers, and to better understand why this strain is so popular, it helps to take a look at everything that goes into making it.

Blueberry Headband Strain Background

What seems at first a simple pairing of parental plants, Blueberry and Headband, this strain is far more complex. Blueberry, OG Kush, Cali Sour D, and Pre-98 Bubba Kush. You may notice that Headband itself isn’t explicitly listed there, however that strain’s parents, OG Kush and Sour Diesel, are well represented among the non-Blueberry participants.

These inherited characteristics make Blueberry Headband an indica-dominant hybrid strain that still contains noticeable traces of sativa. This means that, unlike many other indica-hybrids, you can still consume Blueberry Headband during a morning session and go about your day without feeling an intense need to search for the nearest couch.

From a potency perspective, Blueberry Headband typically contains around 15% THC, but that number can spread out a few percentage points in either direction. While this may not make it as THC-packed as other strains, you won’t struggle to feel its effects.

This strain is also heavy in two terpenes: terpinolene and pinene. You can find terpinolene in other plants like lilacs, nutmeg, and cumin. Pinene, on the other hand, is more common in basil, pine needles, and rosemary.

Blueberry Headband Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

Blueberry Headband comes in medium-large, densely packed buds. The green is bright and vibrant, with threads of orange and yellow running throughout. You should also notice a heavy coating of honey-colored trichomes that almost give off the appearance of light brown sugar. The overall appearance is very appealing and deserving of closer inspection.

With a name like Blueberry Headband, you should expect notes of blueberries in the bud’s aroma. This expectation will be met, as you should inhale a mixture of tartness and sweetness indicative of the berry. You may also detect notes of pine and spice due to the rich abundance of the two particular terpenes listed in the previous section.

The smoking experience is very pleasant. Along with the expected blueberry flavor, you may taste hints of citrus and pine. Exhaling the smoke is typically smooth, too. However, the exhaled aroma can be strong and noticeable. This makes Blueberry Headband a strain to enjoy in the comfort of your own home and not one to consume when discretion is needed.

Blueberry Headband Effects

Consumers choose Blueberry Headband for several reasons. Many like the quick effect and the slight but comfortable tightness around the eyes and temples. The experience typically starts with a strong, cerebral high that never becomes overbearing. Soon, that feeling melts into the body below and emits an overall sense of calmness. Consumers state that the feelings tend to last a while compared to other strains, making for a fun all-day experience.

Many people who deal with anxiety or depression prefer Blueberry Headband. This may be due to the sense of calmness it evokes, along with the undercurrent of stimulation that can help you get things done.
